$20.04-$23.27/hour Benefits Eligibility This position is eligible for the full range of City benefits, including: 100% employer-paid health insurance (employee only) 60% employer-paid family health coverage Paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays Overtime pay and compensatory time eligibility 100% employer-paid long-term disability coverage $25,000 employer-paid life insurance Voluntary benefits available (life insurance, dental, vision, AD&D, cancer, accident) Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Job Summary An employee in this class, under the general supervision of the Utilities Director, performs all work and makes day-to-day decisions required to effectively coordinate and maintain the City of Milton's Backflow Prevention Program and Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG) Program. Work includes inspection, testing, compliance enforcement, recordkeeping, and installation/maintenance of backflow devices. The position requires technical expertise, knowledge of DEP requirements, and the ability to interact professionally with commercial accounts, contractors, and the public. Essential Job Functions (These examples are only representative work samples for this job and do not include all duties or special work assignments that may be required.) Maintain all required records for the Backflow and FOG Programs in a neat and uniform manner, ensuring accurate computer entry. Organize and implement completion of all required tests on the City's backflow devices. Organize required inspections on commercial accounts, follow through on notices and compliance issues, and maintain all records related to commercial devices and test schedules. Perform spot checks on devices reported as passed to ensure compliance with ordinances. Witness re-tests to ensure proper repairs are made. Ensure compliance with all State and Federal laws, as well as DEP and Cross Connection Control requirements. Install, test, and maintain City-owned backflow devices as needed. Perform Oil/Water Separator and Grease Trap inspections. Perform other related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Experience with Naviline or related utility systems. Knowledge of DEP requirements and Cross Connection Control Program requirements. Thorough knowledge of methods, materials, supplies, tools, and practices used in backflow and FOG coordination. Considerable knowledge of safety standards and practices. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, contractors, and the public.
Basic Requirements Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
One (1) year of backflow coordination experience. Licenses and Certifications Possession of a current Backflow Certification. Current and valid State of Florida Driver's License. Possession of all certificates and training as required by the City, County, State, or Federal government. Physical Requirements Regularly required to use hands and fingers, reach with arms, walk, talk, and hear. Occasionally required to stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, crouch, and crawl. Vision abilities include close, distance, color, and depth perception. Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 90 pounds occasionally. Work may involve exposure to hazardous materials, confined spaces, and outdoor weather conditions.
