Job Description

Pine Belt Mental Healthcare Resources is actively seeking an energetic and motivated Prevention Specialist to provide educational services in the Pine Belt service areas. The work hours are Monday through Friday 8a - 5p, with occasional after hours for community events. The Prevention Specialist plays a vital role in Pine Belt Mental Health's ability to promote drug and tobacco-free lifestyles through the PBMHR service area. For 50 years, Pine Belt Mental Healthcare Resources has served individuals throughout the Pine Belt. Through an extensive continuum of care, we strive to enable adults with serious mental illnesses, children with serious emotional disturbances, and individuals with an addiction or developmental disability to live, work, learn, and participate fully in their communities. Our eighteen-county service area includes Amite, Franklin, Forrest, Hancock, Harrison, Jones, Lamar, Lawrence, Covington, Greene, Jeff Davis, Marion, Pearl River, Perry, Pike, Stone, Walthall, Wayne Counties.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in public health, health promotion, behavioral health, or related field. Must possess ability to speak in front of groups and to communicate effectively through verbal and written communication methods Prevention certification a plus, but not required Experience in substance use or public health field preferred Must possess valid MS driver's license with satisfactory driving record
Responsibilities:
Promotes drug and tobacco-free lifestyles through PBMHR service area. Ensures grants are implemented according to DMH standards. Markets, promotes, and report drug and alcohol prevention program. Networks with other Prevention Coordinators in our area in an effort to plan prevention events and activities. Conducts a community-wide needs assessment, which involves research. Utilizes funds in accordance with grant guidelines; charged with fiscal responsibility of all ATOD grants.
