Job Summary:

At Cardella Waste, The Yard Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the yard, ensuring efficient movement, organization, and maintenance of vehicles, equipment, and materials. This role supervises yard staff, enforces safety standards, and ensures the yard operates smoothly and safely at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee daily yard operations, including vehicle and equipment flow, staging, and organization Supervise yard staff and assign daily tasks as needed Ensure all vehicles, trailers, and equipment are properly parked, stored, and accounted for Coordinate with dispatch, mechanics, and operations teams to support fleet needs Monitor yard safety and enforce company safety policies and procedures Conduct regular yard inspections to maintain cleanliness and order Track incoming and outgoing equipment and ensure proper documentation Assist with scheduling and workflow coordination for yard activities Report maintenance or safety issues promptly Support loading and unloading activities when needed Perform other duties as assigned by management

Requirements:

Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required Prior experience in yard management, fleet operations, logistics, or a related field preferred Strong organizational and leadership skills Ability to work in a fast-paced outdoor environment Knowledge of vehicle and equipment handling preferred Strong attention to safety and detail Ability to communicate effectively with staff and management Ability to lift, stand, and move throughout the yard for extended periods

Preferred Skills:

Experience managing drivers, yard workers, or fleet personnel Familiarity with DOT regulations and fleet operations Basic computer skills for tracking and reporting Physical Requirements Standing, bending, lifting, and walking for extended periods Exposure to outdoor weather conditions and shop environments Clean and maintain the maintenance shop and wash bays Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and orderly condition Follow all company safety policies and procedures
