Position Summary:
Support the college's goal of becoming a zero waste campus where diversion of materials from reaching the landfill is at or beyond 90%. The position requires a hardworking, detail-orientated, focused and enthusiastic individual.
Required Qualifications:
Current Student 16-20 hours per week during regular work hours. Strong problem solving/troubleshooting skills, hardworking, detail-orientated, focused and enthusiastic individual. Understand and communicate effectively to diverse groups including faculty, students, administrators, supervisors, support staff, and contractors in order to translate college's sustainability requirements into operational terms. Ability to conduct duties in a friendly, discreet and professional manner. Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as accept direction on given assignments. Valid driver's license and ability to pass MVR along with background check. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 150 pounds with the use of designated moving equipment and/or other assistance. Understanding of sustainability as it relates to materials management and life cycle analysis. Work events the Center for Sustainability is involved in which can include running games and talking to people. While performing the duties of this job, frequent walking is required. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Primarily days with very occasional evenings and weekends for special events Position details include but are not limited to: This position performs various daily scheduled waste, recycling and food/compost pick-ups. All aspects of the compost program are performed including educational outreach and site tours. Additionally sorting, loading, and moving materials; making deliveries and pick-ups on and off campus; serving as support for, surplus property and redistribution Work is performed in a safe and efficient manner. Tasks are completed to the satisfaction of the job requirements. Provide exemplary customer service to clients and maintaining appropriate documentation within systems as a resource on campus to further sustainability initiatives Tasks are completed to the satisfaction of the job requirements. Interactions with campus and community are positive and meaningful. Demonstrates ability to effectively multitask and maintain high levels of service, support, and organization to further sustainability initiatives in a safe and orderly fashion.
