REQUIREMENTS
: High school diploma or its equivalent, as required by the Florida Water and Pollution Control Operators Association (FW&PCOA).
Utility Mechanic I :
Two (2) years of experience in the repair and maintenance of mechanical and/or water/wastewater equipment. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted one for the other on a year for year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
: Must possess a valid Florida driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment. May be required, depending on the area of assignment, to possess or obtain a valid Florida Class B Commercial Driver's License with no airbrake restrictions and maintain said license during the term of employment. Must possess or obtain within six (6) months of employment, a valid Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Maintenance of Traffic (MOT)/Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) Intermediate certification and maintain said certification during the term of employment. Must possess or obtain within six (6) months of employment, a current first aid certification PLUS a current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification from an approved agency and maintain both certifications during the term of employment. Must wear and utilizes all required personal protective equipment (PPE), which may include respiratory protection. Must be able to work planned and unplanned overtime and standby and call-out duties on a rotational basis, including nights, weekends, and holidays. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or artificial disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
Utility Mechanic II :
Five (5) years of experience in the mechanical repair and maintenance of industrial power driven, mechanical equipment; OR two (2) years as a Brevard County Utility Mechanic I PLUS successful completion of any one (1) phase of the Brevard County Employee Development Program and receive a passing score on the phase examination PLUS a current performance evaluation score of 3.5 or higher with no performance evaluation factors with a rating of a 1 or 2. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted one for the other on a year for year basis.

$23.05 to $25.36
Utility Mechanic I :
$20.47 to $22.52 Selections for current vacancies will be based upon the candidate's highest level of education/experience/licensing. Please see the requirements listed. Positions are available in the North, Central, and South areas of the County. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and includes standby, overtime, and holidays as needed. Performs skilled crafts and trades work in the maintenance and repair of mechanical and power-driven equipment used in reclaimed water and wastewater pump stations and lift stations.
