Job Description
The Bar Harbor Solid Waste Division is currently seeking a seasonal, full-time attendant to work at the Solid Waste Facility (Transfer Station and Recycling Center) The Seasonal Transfer Station Attendant provides support for the daily operations at the facility, which includes handling, transferring, compacting, managing recycling, universal waste, and municipal solid waste. The primary responsibility of the Seasonal Transfer Station Attendant is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, support maintenance, and support the overall efficient operation of the facility.
SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are customarily required: Operating special mechanical equipment, such as skid steers and forklifts, to transport waste materials. Ensuring proper sorting and placement of recyclables. Scheduling solid waste and recycling container pick-up. Interacting with the public and providing customer service. Answering phone calls and responding to inquiries from the public. Maintaining records and paperwork. Yard clean-up. Maintaining and repairing equipment as needed. High school diploma or equivalent. Experience in the operation of solid waste equipment preferred. Ability to operate skid steers, forklifts, and other special mechanical equipment preferred or willing to be trained. Ability to work in outdoor conditions, which may include exposure to extreme weather conditions. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with co-workers and the public. Valid driver's license. Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, and background check.TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
