Job Description
The City of Alliance is anticipating an opening in the Water Distribution Department.
GENERAL:
Performs tasks necessary to carry out the duties of the Distribution Department, which are primarily to construct, install and maintain water and sewer lines and their appurtenances; to maintain and repair equipment associated with the water and wastewater treatment plants, reservoirs and dams, water towers and lift stations. Also assist other City Departments as needed.EXAMPLES OF JOB ASSIGNMENTS
: Employees in this position are expected to carry out job assignments that range in normal description from highly skilled to labor. Examples include making taps, setting valves, repairing pumps, laying brick, as well as shoveling sand and gravel, mixing mud, cleaning equipment, or sweeping floors. Employees are expected to work outdoors in all weather conditions and must be capable of working in trenches up to fifteen feet deep. Preference will be given for experience in the troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of process equipment.REQUIREMENTS
Must be physically fit to do all duties assigned.Must be able to:
- Rake and shovel dirt, sand, and gravel
- Climb up into equipment, down into excavations distances up to 15 feet (with ladder)
- Pick up items from ground and place on truck weighing up to 50 pounds
- Kneel and lower items weighing up to 10 pounds into an excavation
- Look over both shoulders while seated to operate equipment and vehicle.
