Equipment Operator II

Job Summary:

The Equipment Operator II is responsible for operating and maintaining various types of heavy equipment used in solid waste disposal and recycling. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to the mission and values of the Resource Authority, demonstrating ethical behavior, strong communication skills, and personal accountability. _______________________________________________________________

Essential Functions/Duties & Responsibilities:

The following duties are examples of tasks individuals in this position may perform. Responsible for operating heavy equipment safely and proficiently for the purpose of waste disposal. Perform daily inspection and maintenance checks on equipment. Responsible for maintaining heavy equipment, including greasing and lubricating equipment, and checking and adding fluids daily. Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of equipment, daily, or more frequently as needed. Cleans area near dump sites to reduce blowing trash. Inspect loads when needed. Directs the public use of the facility per transfer station policies, procedures, and projects. Maintains and utilizes safety clothing, and safety tools. Responsible for loading and hauling recycling materials to recycling disposal sites at the RASCO convenience center. The operator will use a two-way radio to communicate with coworkers in the field and/or office regarding work activities, Requirements, and priorities for the workday. Comply with applicable federal, state/provincial, and local laws, regulations, ordinances, and other orders, as well as to all company policies, procedures, and directives from managers. Solid Waste Director Qualifications And Skills:

Skilled in safely operating heavy construction and trucking equipment used in landfills and transfer stations. Valid Class B CDL driver's license is preferred. Demonstrates initiative, responsibility, and understanding of equipment capabilities. Knowledgeable in safe equipment operation to prevent accidents. Proficient in equipment maintenance and servicing ie: daily maintenance . Exhibits strong time management skills to ensure efficient task completion Adhere to work schedules. Comply with company policies and promote safety standards with integrity. Takes pride in work

Physical/Mental Demands:

Must be able to frequently lift/pull up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions:

Constantly exposed to loud noise, outside weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, vibration Work in an outdoor environment 100% of the time.

Minimum Education Requirements:

A high school diploma or a General Education Degree (GED) is required.

Minimum Experience Requirements:

2 years of prior related experience in equipment operation. Valid certificate(s) of training and applicable licenses for operation of equipment preferred.
