Under general supervision, operates light equipment, participates in all activities relating to streets, drainage, repair and construction; performs related work as required.
Essential Job Functions:
Operates vehicles and equipment such as tractors, shredders, loaders, rollers, operate bucket truck, wood chipper and various equipment; responsible for the cleaning and washing, preventative maintenance, and servicing of equipment; reads and understands written job instructions and plans; writes reports by hand; uses good judgment to work safely and use equipment properly; mechanical aptitude to trouble shoot existing and potential problems; perform daily O&M on water and gas production and distribution systems; and on sanitary sewer collection and treatment facilities; lifts, and carries up to 100 pounds; and pulls, pushes or drags up to 150 pounds of repair equipment; climbs, crawls, kneels, squats, stoops and bends freely when driving or participating in repairs or reading both digital and dial meters; sits or stands for extended periods of time around equipment and in traffic; works in confined spaces for extended periods of time; drives and operates residential and commercial refuse trucks on assigned refuse collection routes and loads refuse by hand; work outdoors in extreme temperatures including heat, cold, temperature swings and inclement weather; perform 2-way radio communication; communicate verbally with citizens; ability to walk long distances (approx. 5 miles at a time) while reading meters; animal control duties are provided by the City Ordinance; some exposure to dust, fumes and loud noises that are routinely encountered in maintenance operations such as mowing, shredding, tree trimming, etc., using proper precautions and safety equipment. Other job functions are a required.
Required Education:
High School Diploma or GED required; Texas Drivers License
