Job Description Join our on-the-job training program as a Maintenance Specialist and earn your Class A CDL so you can join our team of Truck Drivers. You'll be paid for all your training time, begin earning Paid Time Off, retirement and benefits eligibility, use our trucks to take your CDL skills test, and be provided with a DPS-approved classroom curriculum and hands-on driving practice taught by seasoned drivers.

ABOUT THE JOB
As a Maintenance Specialist/CDL Trainee, you will train for the role of Truck Driver with a focus on passing the written and skills tests administered by the Department of Public Safety. You may also perform other tasks as needed including, but not limited to: Maintaining the exterior of facilities and roadways by trimming trees and brush from streets and bridges, assists various maintenance crews during emergency conditions, picks up and removes trash, and ensures lights are operating properly. Assisting in the sign shop by helping to fabricate signs, assists with the installation and repair of signs, performs light street maintenance, builds barricades and hauls and unloads materials. Performing related duties by assisting with the installation of temporary barricades and may flag to direct traffic, maintains daily records of work performed and communicates with other departments. Performs related duties as assigned.
WHO WE NEED
Candidates must have a level of education equivalent to four years of high school (or equivalency), a valid Texas Driver's License with an acceptable driving record, and the ability to understand basic operational, technical, or office processes. No experience required.
Please note:
those who are hired to this trainee role must agree to remain with Collin County for a minimum of 12 months after earning their CDL license.
