SANITATION TECHNICIAN
Job Summary:
The job responsibilities of the Sanitation Technician are to maintain a clean and safe work environment within the production plant which includes the machinery and equipment as well as the surrounding areas of the facility. This is a strength position that involves lifting, pulling, and pushing heavy equipment that could weigh up to 30 pounds, repetitive motions and working on your feet all day. Due to the environmental range—34°F inside coolers to over 100°F outdoors or dry storage—appropriate PPE is mandatory.
Key Responsibilities & Expectations:
Perform daily sanitation of all processing lines. Promotes a safe work environment through knowledge of the sanitation program and commitment to a safe workplace. Ensures that staff are informed of company safety requirements and that safety is a priority in day-to-day functions. Ensure food safety and food defense in the manufacturing plant. Help direct and coordinate all daily sanitation activities within the processing plant as well as the ground surrounding the processing plant. Implement all GMP and HACCP procedures related to cleanliness, food safety and pest control. Assist in maintaining the supply of cleaning chemicals necessary for the operation of the cleaning program and in compliance with OSHA and FDA regulations. Daily communication and interaction with Food Safety/QA team and Production team. Complete all required sanitation records, monitoring programs and forms as required Perform related duties as required. Pro-actively support our continuous improvement process; participate with a positive team spirit
Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED. 2 years or more of work in sanitation involving food manufacturing. Understands the various sanitation chemicals and physical cleaning skills to meet HACCP along with FDA and OSHA requirements. Basic understanding of inventory methods Eager to take responsibility for results while reliably showing good judgment, initiative, and resourcefulness Must have good written and verbal communication skills; Bilingual is a plus Must be reliable, able to work independently and work in a team environment Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and multiple deadlines.
Work Environment:
Work area temperatures may vary by activity; primary work includes a refrigerated/cold environment Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required Required to stand throughout the work shift Involves repetitive motions Heavy lifting up to 30 pounds is required as needed Schedule is Monday-Friday, Night shift Flexible schedule may include some weekends, off-shifts, and holidays
