BRIEF DESCRIPTION

The purpose of this position is to abate and control mosquitoes. This is accomplished by the application of insecticides and larvicides, collection of mosquitoes, and investigations of disease vector complaints. Treats standing water and low areas with larvicide for the control and reduction of mosquito larvae. Operates truck mounted chemical applicators to control adult mosquito population. Places light traps, collects mosquitoes from breeding and resting sites and traps. May investigate vector complaints made by residents. Keeps records of work performed and materials used; assists in the maintenance of assigned equipment.

Schedules may be subject to change with or without advance notice 2 H Walking ditches looking for mosquito larva/pupa treating as needed with chemicals. May need to carry a chemical backpack, walk through mud and uneven terrain to accomplish task. 3 M Aspirates and sets traps for adult mosquitoes, collect larva/pupa. The live mosquitoes are packaged and sent to a lab for testing of vector borne diseases. 4 S Driving a truck and dispersing chemical to kill adult mosquitoes in a large targeted area.
