Sanitation Manager Position Overview:
The EPSU Technician plays a critical support role in daily manufacturing operations by ensuring that production equipment and the facility are cleaned, maintained, and properly set up for the next shift. This position works under the supervision of the Sanitation Manager and collaborates closely with the Maintenance, Production, and Quality teams. This will be a second or third shift role after 1st shift has completed production.
Key Responsibilities:
Clean and sanitize production equipment between product runs according to established protocols and Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). Support start-up activities to ensure equipment and production lines are running smoothly before the next shift begins. Become familiar with safe operation of all production equipment including encapsulation machines, liquid and powder fillers, bottling, capping, and labeling machines. Follow lockout/tagout procedures and ensure electrical panels and devices are secured and protected from any water prior to cleaning. Inspect and release cleaned equipment, ensuring compliance with quality standards and sanitation requirements. Final sign-off to be completed by the Quality Department. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, following housekeeping and cGMP standards. Use cleaning chemicals safely and effectively, including knowledge of titration and proper documentation of cleaning processes in accordance with
FDA 21 CFR
Part 111. Accurately document all cleaning and maintenance activities in logbooks and electronic systems. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times and follow all company safety protocols. Protect product integrity by preventing contamination and cross-contamination.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or GED required. 2+ years of relevant experience preferred, but not required—training will be provided.
Experience:
Experience in sanitation in a manufacturing environment is helpful but not required. Willingness to learn and follow strict operational and safety procedures.
Skills:
Basic reading, math, and computer skills. Mechanical aptitude (able to use hand tools and follow mechanical procedures). Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English; Spanish language skills are a plus. Strong problem-solving and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
Must be able to walk, stand, kneel, bend, crouch, and stretch for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed. Must be able to adapt to a fast-paced and changing production environment. Comfortable working around production equipment, cleaning chemicals, and in both wet and dry conditions.
