Job Description
The Town is seeking Operators to join its Wastewater Treatment team! Plant operators perform responsible technical work in the operation and maintenance of the Wastewater Treatment Plant and related equipment. The Town offers a competitive salary based on experience, certifications and job performance. The entry level hiring rate for this position (no experience required) is $17.22/hourly with training and support to obtain a Class IV Operators Certification within second year of employment. The WWTP runs 24/7/365.

Performs intermediate technical work operating a Wastewater Treatment Plant. Make regular tours of plant and equipment; assist in plant operations. Monitor gauges, meters, control panels, etc. Record readings from meters and instruments. Assist in calibrating meters. Check functions of equipment. Help perform various tests. Regulate and adjust motors, pumps, blowers, valves, and other apparatus to meet changing operating conditions under supervision. Collect samples of wastewater and sludge. Monitor operation of gauges, charts, equipment, and motors. Pump sludge treatment tanks and tanker. Perform basic laboratory tests when required. Assist in writing reports. Unload and store chemical supplies in their proper places. Clean and service pumps, motors, and other equipment. Help perform routine equipment and plant monitoring maintenance. Perform minor preventive maintenance on equipment and pumps. Perform building and grounds maintenance duties. Perform related tasks as required.Requirements Education:
High School Diploma/GED Valid appropriate driver's license with acceptable driving history Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities General knowledge of equipment, facilities, materials, methods and procedures used in WWTP maintenance and operation activities. General knowledge of safety procedures and equipment used in performing assigned work. General knowledge of laboratory procedures and practices for testing wastewater samples. Ability to perform routine monitoring of plant operations and to identify and implement needed control procedures. Ability to operate and maintain WWTP equipment. Ability to perform process control calculations. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Ability to keep written records. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner. Work overtime if needed. Work Environment The worker is subject to outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, noise, vibration, and atmospheric conditions. The worker may be exposed to blood borne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment. Physical Demands This is medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.Similar remote jobs
