POSITION SUMMARY

MEPPI's Service Center Division (SCD) is looking for an experienced Buyer with experience purchasing, procurement, and supply chain in parts and service operations. In this role you will plan, schedule and issue purchase orders for vendor items, including UPS modules from Japan, according to forecasts, customer need and lead times.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Analyze and solve complex purchasing problems with other departments such as conformance to quality or design requirements, material scheduling and price disputes. Implement cost reduction efforts on vendor products. Qualify new products and assist with quality assurance for vendor products. Review requisitions and purchase orders for accuracy, delivery, closing dates and conformance with established policies, procedures and guidelines. Negotiate returns on defective material (NCRs) and coordinate transportation for material returns. Negotiate with vendors concerning quantity, availability and pricing of products. Solicit and evaluate quotations, place and amend purchase orders and follow up and track commitments, vendor performance and other performance criteria. Determine new vendor possibilities and develop vendors to participate in specific offerings of product and material. Interact with suppliers, in accordance with company policies and procedures to ensure a satisfactory buyer-seller relationship for all SCD products and services. Support and make recommendations to improve Company policies and procedures. Further the goals and a positive image of the Division by conducting business with other MEPPI departments, customers, and suppliers in a timely and cooperative manner.

QUALIFICATIONS

Associates degree in business or related discipline plus 3-5 years experience in purchasing, procurement or supply chain position in an industrial or service-oriented organization or equivalent education and experience. Working knowledge of UPS, batteries, UPS and distribution switchgear or equivalent products and services. Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and experience with documenting work and following recordkeeping procedures. Developed analytical, problem solving and negotiations skills. Developed verbal, written communications and interpersonal skills including excellent telephone and customer service skills. Working knowledge of MS Office products and business systems such as Syteline, SAP or Oracle.
