We are seeking experienced and self-motivated Cable Installation Technicians to join our network as independent contractors. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining a variety of low-voltage cable systems, including coaxial, ethernet, and fiber optic infrastructure. This is a project-based position with flexible scheduling. Contractors must maintain their own tools, equipment, and transportation while delivering work that meets or exceeds industry standards. Professionalism, efficiency, and attention to detail are essential to success.Key Responsibilities:
Install, terminate, and test coaxial, Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6a, and fiber optic cables in accordance with industry standards and project specifications. Mount, configure, and secure network hardware, patch panels, and connectivity equipment. Perform site surveys to determine project requirements, cable routes, and materials. Interpret blueprints, schematics, and work orders to ensure accurate installation. Troubleshoot and repair cable systems, identifying connectivity or performance issues. Operate cable testing tools to verify compliance with performance and safety standards. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment. Provide excellent customer interaction and represent the company in a professional manner while on-site. Submit project documentation, including test results, materials used, and any modifications to the scope of work.Qualifications:
Minimum of 1 year of experience in cable installation or low-voltage systems. Strong knowledge of structured cabling standards (TIA/EIA). Proficiency with cable testing tools, termination tools, and hand/power tools. Ability to work independently, manage time efficiently, and meet deadlines. Must provide own tools, personal protective equipment (PPE), and reliable transportation. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work in confined spaces, and climb ladders or work at heights. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Valid driver's license and proof of insurance.Additional Information:
This is a 1099 position; contractors are responsible for their own taxes, insurance, and benefits. Payment terms will be outlined per project or work order. Flexible scheduling based on project timelines and availability. Opportunities for recurring work for high-performing contractors.Special Notes/ Non-Negotiables:
- Applicants must be able to successfully pass a drug screening as a condition of engagement.
- The use of illegal drugs or the misuse of controlled substances is strictly prohibited. This policy is enforced under a zero-tolerance standard, with no exceptions.
- Project locations extend beyond the Charlotte, NC area and may require travel to sites throughout North Carolina, as well as occasional assignments in Virginia and South Carolina.
- Flexibility is an essential requirement for this role.
Pay:
$15.00- $25.
