Work Location:

In-person Summary Morrill Industries is seeking a skilled CAD Drafter to join our engineering and manufacturing team. The CAD Drafter is responsible for creating and maintaining accurate 2D and 3D technical drawings that support the design, fabrication, and assembly of company products. This role is essential in translating design concepts into production-ready documentation using SolidWorks and other CAD tools. Key Responsibilities Create 2D and 3D CAD models and technical drawings using SolidWorks. Convert engineering sketches and verbal instructions into precise, standardized drawings. Add dimensions, notes, and assembly instructions to technical documents. Revise and update drawings based on engineer or production feedback. Assist with maintaining part numbers, bills of materials (BOMs), and revision history in the system. Develop illustrations for manuals and product support documents. Work closely with production teams to resolve design or drawing issues. Maintain organized, version-controlled drawing files. Support prototyping and engineering change processes. Perform other drafting and design tasks as assigned. Qualifications Associate degree or certificate in CAD drafting, mechanical design, or a related field. Proficiency in SolidWorks is required. Minimum 1 year of drafting experience in a manufacturing or technical environment preferred. Knowledge of drafting standards, dimensioning practices, and tolerances. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team setting. Skills and Abilities Strong math and geometry skills (area, volume, basic algebra). Ability to follow written, oral, and diagrammatic instructions. Time management and problem-solving abilities. Proficient with file management and CAD data organization. Comfortable with routine drafting tasks; able to work independently with minimal supervision. Professional, reliable, and able to coordinate with multiple departments. Physical & Work Environment Requirements Sit for extended periods and use hands for drafting and computer work Occasionally required to stand, walk, kneel, or lift up to 25 lbs Requires visual acuity for close-up work, screen use, and detailed drawings Work is performed in a typical office/shop environment Moderate noise level
