Manager Position Summary:
The Café Assistant Manager is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the café and grab-and-go program while providing inclusive supervision and vocational coaching to staff. This position ensures high-quality customer service, food safety compliance, operational efficiency, and a supportive work environment for neurodivergent employees and individuals with disabilities. Primary Job Function(s):
  • Oversee daily grab-and-go café operations, including opening and closing procedures.
  • Assist with inventory management, ordering supplies, and maintaining accurate point-of-sale (POS) records.
  • Provide hands-on coaching and training to staff in espresso preparation, food assembly, cashiering, and customer service.
  • Support and supervise employees using individualized approaches, including visual supports, structured routines, and task checklists.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and allergen handling standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming café environment.
  • Address customer concerns and staff conflicts professionally while modeling positive communication and teamwork.
  • Assist with employee scheduling and daily operational planning.
  • Maintain accurate financial and operational records, including daily sales reconciliation and inventory tracking.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and training of new café staff as needed.
  • Ensure all staff understand and work toward fulfilling the mission and values of the organization.
  • Participate in team meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
  • Ensure equipment is properly maintained and operational concerns are reported promptly.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Tuition Reimbursement Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma or GED required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Food Service Management, Human Services, or a related field preferred.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a fast-paced food service, café, or retail environment.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting individuals with disabilities or neurodivergent individuals is strongly preferred.
  • ServSafe Manager Certification required or willingness to obtain within designated timeframe.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to adapt coaching and management styles to different learning needs.
  • Ability to remain calm, flexible, and solution-oriented in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions:
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, and moving items up to 50 lbs.
  • Flexible schedule, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
