Job Description

CABIN COUNSELOR JOB DESCRIPTION SEASONAL POSITION
Job Overview:
As a Camp Counselor, you are more than a supervisor; you are a mentor, confidant, educator, and friend to the campers in your care. With 8 to 10 campers and 2 counselors per cabin, your role is pivotal in shaping a nurturing and engaging camp experience. You will lead daily activities, safeguard the well-being of your campers, and cultivate a sense of camaraderie and spirit both within your cabin and throughout the camp.
Responsibilities:
Ensure the safety, health, and wellbeing of each camper in your group. Engage and participate in all camp activities alongside your campers. Lead and support cabin and camp-wide activities, including meal times, rest periods, and special events. Embrace challenges and step beyond your comfort zone, fostering an environment of growth and learning. Conduct and participate in activity sessions, utilizing your skills to enrich the camper experience. Prepare and maintain reports, evaluations, and communications as required. Attend all training sessions and staff meetings, contributing to the collective success of our team. Promote and uphold the camp's values, ensuring a respectful and inclusive environment for all. Actively maintain and contribute to the camp's spirit and community ethos.
Qualifications:
Passion for outdoor living and enthusiasm for a two-week adventure in upstate New York. Demonstrated maturity, integrity, and strong moral character. A genuine interest in working with children, with a patient, understanding, and sensitive approach to their needs. Ability to work collaborate as part of a dynamic team. Minimal reliance on technology, embracing the immersive nature of camp life. Must possess a valid Health Exam and up-to-date Immunization Record.
Requirements:
Minimum age of 18 years and completion of high school. Previous experience working or volunteering with children Preference for candidates with at least one year of college or relevant experience. ParDcipaDon in a mandatory pre-camp Training Session is required.
Additional Information:
Our cabins are designed to blend comfort with the rustic charm of outdoor living, equipped with electricity and close to sanitation facilities. While bedding is provided, bringing a sleeping bag is recommended. The camp offers laundry facilities for staff use.
