Full-time Principal Qualifications:
Tennessee Certificate for Principal (Appropriate Level). Minimum of a Master's Degree in Educational Administration At least three years' classroom experience

Director of Schools Supervises:
All staff assigned to the school: teachers, aides, secretaries, custodians, cafeteria staff, and other professional staff
Job Goals:
To use leadership, supervisory, and administrative skills to promote the educational development of each student.
Performance Responsibilities:
In person job attendance Interprets and enforces district policies and administrative regulations. Participates in the selection, supervision, and evaluation of all school personnel. Leads in the development, determination of appropriateness, and monitoring of the instructional program. Organizes and administers the public relations program for his/her school. Supervises the daily use of the school facilities for both academic and non-academic purposes. Provides for adequate inventories of property under his/her jurisdiction and for security and accountability for that property. Approves the master teaching schedule and any special assignments. Prepares and administers the school budget and supervises school finances. Supervises the maintenance of all required records and reports. Maintains active relationships with students and parents. Supervises all school related activities and programs. Assumes responsibility for all official school correspondence and news releases. Serves as a member of such committees and attend meetings as the Director of Schools shall direct. Serves as an ex officio member of all committees and councils within the school. Responds to written and oral requests for information. Keeps the supervisor informed of events and activities of an unusual nature as well as routine matters related to the supervisor's accountability. Assumes responsibility for professional growth and development through membership and participation in the affairs of professional organizations, through attendance at regional, state, and national meetings, through enrollment in advance courses, and the like. Creates an atmosphere conducive to learning. Sets high expectations of self, students, faculty and staff. Establishes written goals and communicates those goals. Supervises curriculum and instructional effectiveness. Responsible for the classification and promotion or retention of students. Oversees the health and safety of students. Responsible for requisitioning supplies and equipment and all other materials necessary for the operation of the school. Implements and administers a code of discipline and behavior within the school. Reports any act of assault and battery or vandalism endangering life, health, or safety committed by a student on school property to the proper law enforcement officials. Performs such other duties which may be assigned by the Director of Schools pursuant to the written policies of the Board of Education. Observes all other rules and regulations related to the operation of the schools as established by law and as contained in the Rules, Regulations and Minimum Standards of the State Board of Education and Tennessee Code Annotated. Administers the athletic program in accordance with the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association/Tennessee Middle School Athletic Association. (Secondary Principals/Middle School Principals) Other duties as assigned.
Capacity and Ability Requirements:
The usual job demands require the following physical requirements: speaking, some lifting (up to 50 lbs.), carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, and physical dexterity.
