The Campaign Director works with the Vice President for Institutional Advancement (VPIA) and University Leadership to plan, manage, implement, and evaluate all capital/comprehensive campaign activities. The Director also works with the VPIA and the Executive Director of Institutional Advancement / Westfield State University Foundation to create and execute a comprehensive principal and major gift prospect solicitation program to support campaign initiatives. In addition, the Director will manage day-to-day campaign-related issues, track and report on campaign progress, and serve as the principal staff support to the VPIA on campaign matters. To successfully carry out these responsibilities, the incumbent will interact with senior University leadership, the Campaign Steering Committee, trustees, leadership gift prospects, members of the University Advancement staff, and the Westfield State community. The Director will, with oversite from the VPIA, participate substantially in the formulation, determination, and adoption of divisional policy.Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties include but not limited to: Principal Accountabilities Definition of Campaign Goals and Objectives Collaborates with the VPIA, Executive Director, Senior Staff, Board members and volunteer campaign leadership to manage, update and implement a strategic plan for the campaign. Monitors the status of marketable gift opportunities spanning the spectrum of institution needs in conjunction with University and Divisional leadership and advises the VPIA regarding progress or variances toward achieving those goals and objectives. Reviews the needs of the University and the identified potential of VPIA's prospect pool to provide key decision makers with the information they need to advance solicitations. Monitors tables of gifts needed to achieve the dollar goal, ensuring pipeline alignment, and reassessing strategy as needed. Collaborate with the Senior Management team to implement naming policies and gift acceptance procedures. Including but not limited to participating substantially in the formulation, determination and adoption of divisional policy. Campaign Timeline and Resource Planning Develops and monitors the campaign timeline, detailing the phases of the campaign, progress in soliciting the various segments of the prospect pool and the impact of various fundraising divisions. Makes recommendations regarding the scope, nature, location, and timing of campaign events, as well as developing standardized formats and materials for screening meetings, assignments and training meetings, and other localized small-group volunteer activities. Reviews campaign goals and objectives in conjunction with the size and composition of the prospect pool to determine how to best assign staff to make necessary solicitations. Campaign Communications Works with the VPIA, the Executive Director of Institutional Advancement / Westfield State University Foundation, Director of Communications and Donor Relations staff to establish a campaign communications plan for Westfield's internal and external constituencies. Seeks to identify key campaign themes and messages and ensures these are creatively developed in a variety of communications media. Integrates news on the achievement of campaign milestones into ongoing communications/marketing outreach as appropriate. Prospect Management Oversees a robust pipeline of potential contributors driving the development and execution of strategies for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of campaign donors. Serve as a key representative of the institution in high-level campaign discussions, demonstrating the ability to communicate complex fundraising priorities eloquently and confidently while exercising sound judgment and strict confidentiality. Lead and support major campaign negotiations with donors and prospects, including gift structuring and terms, ensuring alignment with institutional goals, donor intent, and ethical standards. Works with the other members of the Advancement team to enhance systems and procedures for identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding prospects and donors to ensure they are appropriately assigned to staff and volunteers. Works collaboratively with the President and VPIA to manage their prospects, thereby ensuring the timely and appropriate cultivation, solicitation, and follow-up. Staff Development In consultation with the VPIA, and other relevant department heads, the Campaign Director is responsible in identify staff training needs as they emerge throughout the campaign, and for developing, implementing, and evaluating training programs on an ongoing basis. Volunteer Development and Management In consultation with the VPIA, the Campaign Director develops a comprehensive national campaign volunteer organization with clearly defined roles, relationships, responsibilities, and reporting lines. Develops a plan for identifying, enlisting, evaluating, and recognizing campaign volunteers, ensuring that volunteers have the training and materials necessary to undertake their assigned duties. Further, they will assist the VPIA in staffing top campaign volunteer leadership.Requirements:
Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree in a related field. This position is best filled by an individual with seven to ten years of progressively responsible experience in fundraising and development, preferably in higher education. Requires leadership level experience with comprehensive capital/comprehensive campaigns. The incumbent must demonstrate highly developed collaboration, communications, interpersonal, managerial, motivational, and strategic thinking skills to effectively manage the multiple priorities associated with a complex capital/comprehensive campaign.Additional Information:

Salaries for current Westfield State University employees and individuals currently working for the state of Massachusetts must be calculated individually in accordance with collective bargaining agreements as well as state policies.
