Back to Job Openings Campus Police Officer II Posted 4 days ago Apply Share Link copied The Public Safety Department is looking to hire a Campus Police Officer II to maintain and create a safe and welcoming campus for students, staff, and visitors. The Campus Police Officer II will be responsible for paroling campus building and adjacent areas, investigating crimes and other incidents and responding to emergencies and disturbances.
Responsibilities:
Patrols campus buildings and adjacent areas. Investigates crimes or other incidents, restraining or arresting suspects when necessary. Provides assistance to courts in prosecution of cases, performs related work as required to ensure and maintain a secure campus environment. Responds to disturbances and emergencies as needed. Create a safe and welcoming campus to staff, students, faculty and visitors.
Requirements:
Must be at least 21 years of age. High School Diploma required. Possession of a Valid MA Class 3 Motor Vehicle Operators license.
Non-Smoker:
Must be a non-smoker of tobacco products under M.G.L. Chapter 41, Section 101A, and remain a non-smoker. Eligibility for appointment as a Special State Police Officer under MGL 22C Sec. 63. Eligibility for Certification by POST Commission. Ability to pass MPTC Entry Level Fitness Assessment. MPTC Recruit Officer Course Fitness Standards. Able to complete a MPTC Approved Full-Time Academy. (Department will arrange for attendance in a MPTC Approved Academy provided all other required qualifications are present (Contractual stipulations apply). Must possess a current License to Carry (LTC) from appropriate city or town in Massachusetts. First Aid/CPR/AED Certified or ability to become certified upon employment. Excellent communication and organizational skills and attention to details are essential. Ability to pass extensive background investigation, CORI and SORI check that is conducted. Applicant must undergo and successfully pass a police entry level physical and psychological exam. Ability to work in partnership with a diverse faculty, staff and student population.
Preferred Qualifications:
One year of full-time law-enforcement or related experience in campus environment preferred. Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred. Completion of MPTC Approved Full-Time Academy preferred.
Additional Information:
Salary:
$61,321.52 - $75,356.32 - Annual (Grade 17 Step 1-8) (Salary and Grade/Step commensurate with academy completion). Applicants who do not meet the qualifications as noted above are encouraged to put in writing precisely how their background and experience has prepared them with the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience required for the responsibilities of this position. Please note that as a condition of employment, the final candidate will undergo Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) and Sex Offender Registry Information (SORI) background screenings in accordance with state regulations. The results of these screenings may impact the hiring decision.
