3rd shift
Job Summary:
The canning line operator is responsible for leading the operation of the canning line, ensuring specifications are properly followed, training new crew members, and ensuring a clean and safe work area. The canning line operator is also responsible for properly packaging a range of roofing adhesives and sealants into 1, 2.5, 5, and 55-gallon containers and totes.Duties & Responsibilities:
Operate can filling equipment to fill 1, 2.5, and 5-gallon cans of adhesives. Assisting in making boxes to package 1-gallon cans. Manually date coding 1, 2.5, & 5-gallon cans Filling and labeling pint size sample cans for Quality Assurance Setting up for 1-gallon cans and date coder Cleaning canning line conveyor rollers daily Connecting to the proper surge tank Cleaning lines between product changes Maintaining proper housekeeping in the work area Filling out necessary production and Quality Assurance paperwork Changing strainer baskets Complete communication log at the beginning and end of the shift with the previous and upcoming operators Input data on SQDC board at the end of the shift. Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge:
Processing specifications and grading standards for the canning line Operation of the canning line and its component parts Lockout/tagout procedures Fork truck operation Proper packaging Housekeeping and job breakdownSkills:
Basic mathematical calculations Reading and comprehension of processing specifications, grading standards, SDS's (Safety Data Sheets), gauges, meters certification sheets, bills of lading, and purchasing specifications Filling out work orders, LOTO books, incident reports, production, and quality paperwork Leadership Training new crew members on safety measures and problem solving Driving a fork truck Computer operations•Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel Abilities:

2 years of manufacturing/warehouse experienceEquipment & Data Used:
Equipment run on the job: forklift, pallet jack, scales, pumps, HMI process control computer Tools required on the job: knives, scissors, wrenches, push broom, Stickney gauge, tape measure, hot knife, writing utensils, calculator, and miscellaneous hand tools Data used on the job: processing specifications, grading standards, internal office memos, quality reports, production schedules, and electronic communicationsWork Environment/Time Worked:

Plant ambient temperature in the summer matches outside temperature Plant is heated in the winter Exposure to solvent fumes when cleaning (PPE Provided) Pinch points on moving mechanical equipment Sharp edges on box cutters Heavy equipment including fork truck and hoist Uniforms are issued and laundered by company Can be fast pacedTime Worked:
Monday- Friday with Saturday/Sunday Overtime as business requires Physical Requirements Climbing
- must be able to climb into and out of the fork truck Stooping
- when placing finished product cartons on pallets Kneeling
- during some portions of clean out process Crouching
- when filling 5-gallon pails Reaching
- reach to get empty pails and cases Standing
- must stand for majority of the shift Walking
- walking to take finished product to skid and get empty containers Pushing
- push filled cans onto conveyor and pushing buttons on the HMI process control computer Pulling
- pull full cases off table and pulling cans towards oneself to fill Lifting
- lift full boxes or cans from table or floor onto skid (Occasionally up to 62 lbs.), Vacuum hoist is also used to assist lifting as required Grasping
- must grasp cans before filling and boxing Talking and Hearing
- communicate with other members of plant frequently Sight
- must be able to see warnings, hazards, and SDS's (Safety Data Sheets) Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
