Cardiac Device Clinician

Certified Cardiac Device Clinician A Certified Cardiac Device Clinician is a health professional certified to manage and troubleshoot patients with cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIEDs), such as pacemakers, ICDs, and loop recorders. This position will provide technical expertise for clinic and inpatient programming, remote monitoring, and procedure support, ensuring devices function and patient safety. This employee will also manage remote transmissions, educate patients, and perform office work.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma/GED Associates degree in nursing or related field. One to three years of experience in a cardiac device management, including experience in a device clinic or electrophysiology lab Remote monitoring experience with pacemakers, defibrillators or Pacearts. Must complete training with Medtronic Academy within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelors of Science Nursing or related field or Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering from an accredited school may be considered in lieu of Cardiac Device Educational training or clinical experience Certification with the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE). Five to seven years of experience in a cardiac device management, including experience in a device clinic or electrophysiology lab. Experience with Medtronic and/or Abbott devices.

Essential Job Functions:

Performs clinic and inpatient interrogations of pacemakers, defibrillators and implantable loop recorders using device company websites Schedules appointments, imports report, enters data in the proper systems and prepares reports for the physician and the billing department Remotely interrogates pacemaker, implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) and implantable loop recorder (ILR) patients Recognizes abnormalities, malfunctions and "end of service" indicators Notifies cardiologist and assists in scheduling patients for follow up or replacement as indicated Ability to multitask with multiple office locations, inpatient needs, and work on-call and remote as needed. Coordinates and prioritizes with other members of the healthcare team to respond to, plan and initiate timely and efficient care Educates patients and families regarding device function and clinic follow up scheduling and documents patient interaction thoroughly and accurately Imports and forwards report within information to referring physicians and providers Ensures timely and proper documentation and billing Participates in the device remote monitoring, billing issues and reporting issues Supports all aspects of documentation and follow-up reports Provides cross-coverage as necessary and serves as a resource to staff, other departments, and administration Maintains knowledge of hospital, department, and regulatory agency policies and requirements and participates in continuing education Performs other duties as assigned
