Cardiovascular Intensive Care RN - La Vista, Nebraska

Category Nursing - RN-CVICU Job Type Contract Take an impactful role delivering specialized care in an 18-bed Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit. This contract opportunity offers an engaging environment where you'll support patients recovering from advanced cardiac surgeries, thoracic and vascular procedures, and cases requiring state-of-the-art support including Impella, IABP, CRRT, and ECMO. Schedule options include 12-hour shifts, 6:30am-6:30pm or 6:30pm-6:30am, with shifts assigned by the manager. Every other weekend and holiday coverage is required, based on the unit's needs.

Key qualifications and experience:

Active RN license and current BLS and ACLS certifications required Must have at least one year of direct CVICU experience Expertise with open-heart, complex thoracic and vascular patients Knowledge and ability to titrate drips including vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, and antiarrhythmics Proficient at reading and interpreting cardiac monitor strips (no tele techs; RNs read their own) Competence with ventilators and related RT equipment beyond troubleshooting Comfortable floating to all inpatient units except Maternity/NICU Ability to pass a department-specific, open-book clinical exam (90% minimum required at orientation) Must not be employed by any facility associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI or Dignity) in any capacity, and must reside outside a 50-mile radius (driver's license required for mileage verification) Adherence to strict nail policy (no artificial nails permitted in patient care areas) Role responsibilities: Provide expert, compassionate care to complex cardiac and vascular patients Collaborate with in-house intensivists and hospitalists available 24/7 Work independently as no CNAs are assigned to this unit Additional details: Navy blue scrubs required Two structured orientation shifts provided Floating may be required but never to Maternity or NICU units Bring your advanced skills and commitment to excellence to a highly specialized CVICU setting.
