Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medication Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or hospitals and will be skilled in providing exceptional care to individuals with various needs, including those with developmental disabilities, Alzheimer's, and dementia. This role is crucial in ensuring the safe administration of medications and supporting the overall well-being of our residents. Responsibilities Administer medications to residents as prescribed, following all safety protocols and guidelines. Maintain accurate medical documentation and records in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Monitor residents for any side effects or adverse reactions to medications and report findings to the nursing staff. Assist in the development and implementation of individualized care plans for residents. Provide personal care support, including assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs). Conduct regular health assessments, including taking vital signs and documenting changes in resident conditions. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care. Maintain a clean and safe environment for residents, adhering to infection control practices. Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities related to medication administration and patient care. Qualifications Previous experience in assisted living, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care settings is preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and medical documentation practices is essential. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner is a plus. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or special needs is highly desirable. Strong understanding of medication administration protocols and safety measures. Ability to perform catheter care, tube feeding, and other specialized medical procedures as necessary. Excellent communication skills and a compassionate approach to caregiving are required. Must be able to work effectively as part of a team while also demonstrating strong independent judgment. $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
