Title Categorical Program Grants Specialist Department Federal Programs & Grants Reports To Director of Federal Programs & Grants Compensation AP 504 Days 226Revised:
05/01/2026 PRIMARY PURPOSE The Categorical Grants Specialist, under the supervision of the Director of Federal Programs and Grants, shall provide technical assistance to the Director with the application process, procedural compliance, monitor policy, reporting and management of grants and allowable state allotments.QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Certification Requirements Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) Technical and/or grant writing experience preferred Experience in budget development and grant management recommended Experience in managing multiple/concurrent projects and ensuring completion Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee. Knowledge and Skills Strong writing, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills with adults Excellent time management, attention to detail, problem solving, & decision-making skills Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Windows) and Google applications Ability to develop and deliver quality training/presentations Ability to multitask and meet intense work deadlines Ability to travel throughout the district Understanding of the indicators/data used to determine qualification of certain grants Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse constituency across all academic and administrative units within the school district and higher education institutions Understanding of ESSA Title I Elements and the CNA/CIP processMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Collaborate opportunities for District personnel and/or campuses to apply for various grants and recognition initiatives Collaborate with personnel in site visits to monitor requirements for program compliance, monitoring, evaluating and data collection for programs Collaborate with Title I campuses on the CNA/CIP process and Parent Notifications Advise and support Title I campuses on Parent Engagement learning opportunities Develop and manage grant budgets. Ensure fiscal requirements comply with federal/state laws, District policies and procedures, and grant guidelines Collaborate with district and campus personnel, institutions of higher education, community-based organizations, Education Service Centers (Region 20), and other agencies addressing needs and improvement plans Provide professional development and resource materials for District and campus personnel on grants guidelines, policies, procedures, maintenance, reporting Prepare and support the completion of reports and evaluations related to required FP&G programs and District initiatives Ability to work and manage projects independently, to work as part of a team, and to serve as the team leader, when necessary Demonstrates initiative and diligence in the prompt and proper completion of all job duties, on or before deadlines Follow District and department protocol for daily operations Seek credible sources for external funding to enhance programs and promote innovation Promotes positive school-community relations by communicating effectively with staff, students, parents, and the community Maintains a consistent professional demeanor and appearance Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
