Job Description
Typical work assignments include:
Applying thorough and comprehensive knowledge of program related legislation and regulations and an extensive knowledge of inspection and investigative techniques including preparing reports that substantiate findings and serving as a basis for legal action. Utilizing systems analysis; statistical sampling; management review; and other techniques determining goals and objectives are accomplished, the cost-benefit ratio of methods used, achieving them as well as identifying areas where additional or improved means are required. Assuring implementation by subordinate organizations and operating units of the goals and objectives of Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP). Determining goals and objectives that need additional emphasis; developing measures and evaluating performance; making recommendations for program improvements and managing resources. You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Developing and deploying strategies in preventing illegal entry of terrorists into the United States. Providing advice, guidance and recommendations to agency management and other staff on critical operations. Collecting and analyzing operational and strategic intelligence from sources including Federal, State, and other law enforcement agencies. Developing new approaches in response to identified weaknesses and vulnerabilities of ongoing operations.
