Job Description

Home daily. Local routes. Hull Forest Products is looking for a dependable and experienced triaxle Log Truck Driver to haul logs between logging sites, yards, and mills. This is a hands-on role that includes loading and unloading logs, securing loads, and making sure everything is delivered safely and on time.
Key Responsibilities Log Transportation:
Safely operate a heavy-duty log truck to transport sawlogs over various terrains, including forest service roads, highways, and tight landing areas. Operate commercial log truck with self loader: Load and unload logs using onboard equipment or assist with yard loaders
Load Securing:
Ensure all loads are properly balanced, tiered, and secured using chains, cables, or wrappers according to safety regulations and weight limits.
Pre/Post-Trip Inspections:
Conduct thorough daily inspections of the truck, trailer, and loading crane (brakes, tires, hydraulics, lights) to ensure the vehicle is in top mechanical condition.
Route Planning:
Evaluate forest road conditions and weather to determine the safest and most efficient routes for haulage.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate logs, including trip sheets, scale tickets, and accurate logs of driving hours, deliveries, and vehicle maintenance reports.
Communication:
Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and team members to coordinate deliveries and resolve issues promptly. Qualifications & Skills Tree/log Species Identification Must be able to learn to differentiate hardwood tree species in order to group species properly when unloading.
License:
Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
Experience:
Minimum 2+ years of heavy truck driving experience; specific experience in log hauling or forestry is highly preferred. Experience with various truck types such as flatbeds, dump trucks, and live floor trailers preferred.
Ability :
to operate manual transmission trucks confidently.
Equipment Skills:
Proven ability to operate a log loader/grapple for self-loading operations.
Physical Stamina:
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physical tasks such as throwing wrappers and performing basic maintenance.
Safety Mindset:
Deep understanding of forest safety protocols and weight/height restrictions for sawlog transport.
Pay:
28-32 depending on experience
Pay:
$28.00 - $30.00 per hour
