Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) / Dietary Director

This role ensures meals are safe, nutritious, and tailored to meet each resident's needs in accordance with physician orders, approved menus, and regulatory standards. The director also manages staff, maintains budget compliance, and collaborates with other departments to support resident well-being. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Direct and participate in meal preparation and service to ensure quality, safety, and compliance Maintain food quality, portion control, and adherence to physician-ordered diets Manage departmental budget, control costs, and oversee ordering of food and supplies Plan and coordinate special meals for holidays and events Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate dietary staff, including disciplinary actions as needed Ensure proper food storage, sanitation, and infection control practices Process diet orders and maintain accurate diet cards and resident records Assess resident nutritional needs, preferences, and risks; complete required documentation Prepare and manage staff schedules Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant kitchen environment Conduct routine inspections and audits of dietary services Collaborate with nursing, activities, and interdisciplinary teams Participate in QA and IDT meetings Provide in-service education and staff training Investigate workplace incidents and implement corrective actions Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations Maintain confidentiality of resident information Engage with residents to support satisfaction and nutritional care Communicate menu changes with the Dietitian and document accordingly Supervisory Responsibilities Oversee and manage dietary staff, including scheduling, training, performance evaluations, and regulatory compliance Qualifications Education & Experience Graduate of an approved Dietary Manager program (CDM certification required) Minimum one year of experience in a long-term care dietary department preferred Experience with PointClickCare (PCC) preferred Must maintain required continuing education and remain in good standing with regulatory agencies Skills & Abilities Strong leadership and team management skills Excellent organizational and communication abilities Knowledge of dietary regulations and long-term care standards Ability to manage budgets and control costs effectively Physical Demands Frequent standing, walking, reaching, pushing, and pulling Occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching Ability to lift up to 50 lbs Frequent use of senses including sight, hearing, taste, and smell Work Environment Skilled nursing facility setting Kitchen and food service environment Low to moderate noise levels Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Statement Gateway Post Acute is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
