Job Description
Job Overview Starting business operation on June 1st, 2026, Ascend Aviation is Northern Idaho's newest aviation business and the only flight services company in Shoshone County. Join our dynamic aviation team as a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) or Commercial pilot (ASEL). We are currently offering one or more part-time (on demand), 1099 (contract) position(s) for flight instruction and commercial air tour flights. In addition to flight instruction (Private, Instrument, Commercial, CFI/I training, High Performance/Technically Advanced Aircraft endorsements, Flight Reviews) and air tour flights under Part 91.147, initial growth phase will expand to ferry flights, aircraft owner buying and selling services, commercial piloting opportunities, and future charter operations. Duties Deliver engaging and thorough flight training sessions in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) using Ascend Aviation's established syllabi and lesson plans. Conduct customer engagement and energetic verbal narrative during air tour flights. Interact with current and future aircraft owners associated with their purchase and sales needs (ferry flights, consulting, etc...). Maintain compliance with Ascend Standard Operating Procedures including accurate training records, logbooks, and compliance documentation in line with regulatory requirements. Skills Commercial Pilot or Certified Flight Instructor (or in progress CFI) with strong knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), aircraft systems (airframe), and aviation safety standards. Preferred experience in Cessna 182 or larger. Ability to interact effectively with diverse, non-aviation customers in air tour operations including speaking (narrate) while fly. Ability to provide classroom instruction in a small group setting Familiarity with aircraft maintenance procedures and hands-on experience with aircraft operations Ability to work effectively with students of varying backgrounds, skill levels, and learning paces
