Certified Medical Assistant 9-12month Contract Kansas Diabetes & Endocrinology Center Wichita, KS Job Details Contract $15 - $18 an hour 2 hours ago Qualifications Collaborate with healthcare professionals Teamwork Outpatient Medical scheduling Medical billing Medical terminology Full Job Description Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will bring experience from urgent care, hospital medicine, internal medicine, and/or specialty care such as endocrinology. This role is vital in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment. A strong understanding of medical terminology and a collaborative mindset are essential, especially when working with multidisciplinary teams, geriatrics, and inpatient settings.
Key Responsibilities Clinical Duties:
Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations, in-office procedures, and treatments.Room patients:
take and record vital signs, obtain medical histories, and prepare patients for exams. Administer medications and injections as directed by the provider. Perform point-of-care testing (e.g., blood glucose, A1C). Support chronic disease management (e.g., diabetes education, insulin and CGM training, thyroid follow-ups). Maintain clean and well-stocked exam rooms and clinical areas. Assist with infection control procedures and sterilization of medical equipment.Administrative Duties:
Document all clinical interactions accurately in the electronic health record (EHR). (Experience with AthenaHealth is a plus) Manage prescription refill requests and prior authorizations under provider guidance. Coordinate referrals and ensure follow-through with external providers. Communicate test results and follow-up instructions to patients. Schedule follow-up appointments, labs, and imaging as needed. Answer patient phone calls and respond to messages in a timely, professional manner. Verify insurance and support front desk or billing teams when help is needed. Qualifications Experience in urgent care, hospital medicine, internal medicine, geriatrics, endocrinology, or settings is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of medical terminology and clinical procedures. Proficient in using EHR systems for documentation and scheduling. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a compassionate approach to patient care. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and remain detail-oriented in a fast-paced clinical environment. Familiarity with inpatient and outpatient care protocols is a plus.Pay:
