Under the supervision of nursing staff members, assists in providing nursing resident care, prepares records, and maintains a clean and safe environment. Responsible for safely administering medication to residents in accordance with their prescribed treatment plans and ensuring compliance with state regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide nursing resident care and medication administering services for the facility Safely administer prescribed medications to residents in accordance with their medication orders and protocols. Accurately document medication administration in the resident's medical records, ensuring that all required information is recorded and updated. Observe residents for side effects, adverse reactions, or changes in health status after medication administration and report to the charge nurse. Assist with medication storage, ensuring medications are kept in proper conditions, and track medication usage to prevent errors. Receive staff report on residents during shift change and review completion of report and throughout assigned shift, noting changes or addition of resident assignments. Provide personal, physical and nutritional care according to requirements of the residents and document appropriately. Answer call lights in a timely manner. Perform the cleaning and sterilization of equipment, resident rooms, and work areas. Perform procedures and treatments designed to prevent physical deterioration and as assigned and document appropriately. Communicate and treat residents in a professional, honest, fair, and respectful manner at all times. Provide care appropriate for the residents served based on demonstrated knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. Assess and interpret data on the residents' status to identify residents' requirements relative to their age-specific needs and provides care needed as stipulated in departmental policy. Total intake and output, chart vital signs, foley catheter care, meal and snacks percentages all within an hour of shift change. Observe resident every hour and report unusual conditions to the charge nurse on duty. Obtain vital signs and document appropriately on each resident every shift and report abnormalities to the charge nurse on duty. Assist the charge nurse in resident care activities. Restock chart forms, care plans, and other required paperwork. Gather and provide information as directed. Ensure inventory at nurses' station and other areas are adequately stocked with supplies necessary for efficient operation. Transport residents to and from designated areas and assigned rooms in a safe manner and notify appropriate personnel. Replace sharp containers and disposable glove boxes when needed. Empty trash receptacles at nurses' station and in residents' rooms at end of shift.
OTHER SIGNIFICANT REQUIREMENTS
Work well with other employees. Maintain confidentiality on a daily basis. Perform other functions and tasks as assigned. Follow standard precautions when providing direct patient care or handling potentially infectious materials. WHY EHD?

EDUCATION
 High school diploma or equivalent required.
EXPERIENCE
 One year experience in a medical setting or skilled nursing facility preferred.
PERSONAL JOB-RELATED SKILLS
 Knowledge of resident care and medication administration services. Strong attention to detail. Effective written and oral communication skills. Familiar with operating computers and the ability to utilize computer systems.
LICENSURE, REGISTRY, CERTIFICATIONS
 Current Certified Medication Aide certification required. Current CPR certification required.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
 Duties of the position require moderate periods of walking and standing. Pushing, pulling, reaching, and bending when involved in patient care. Lifting up to 52 pounds and occasional heavy lifting in supporting or moving patients that may suddenly become weak or helpless. The ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions.
