OPPORTUNITY
Central Minnesota Mental Health Center (CMMHC) is seeking a proven leader to serve as the Certified Peer Specialist Behavioral Health Practitioner to work in St. Cloud (Stearns, Benton, Sherburne & Wright County) area. This position is responsible for providing individual peer support and group services for individuals with serious mental illnesses and individuals in recovery for substance use disorders, who receive services under the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC).WHAT IS PEER SUPPORT?
Non-clinical specialists provide support and hope to individuals by sharing their stories and serving as role models for wellness by offering the perspective of similar significant life experiences.Certified Peer Specialists have the lived experience of someone with a mental or chemical illness and, from that vantage point, help you discover your strengths and develop your own recovery goals. The specialist's personal story and path to recovery provide tools, skills, and information to share with those going through similar struggles. CMMHC's Peer Specialists have lived experience with mental illness and/or substance use share stories about healing and recovery and offer hope to others. Clients must participate in another internal or external mental health service to utilize Peer Support Services.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with providers, staff, and community towards improving both physical and mental health for individuals and families.Assess, refer, and monitor progress towards achieving goals in the overall health of individuals and families. Provide one-on-one peer support, and groups, focused on behavior changes to improve quality of life. Empower individuals with skills to engage in the management of both physical and mental health.Document interactions and interventions as directed. Follow all mandated reporter guidelines and always review suspicious concerns with supervisor.
