Job description: Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Peer Specialist to join our team. This role is designed for individuals who have lived experience with mental health or substance use challenges and are committed to supporting others on their recovery journey. The Certified Peer Specialist will provide guidance, support, and advocacy to individuals navigating the behavioral health system, fostering hope and empowerment through shared experiences. Duties Provide peer support through one-on-one mentoring and group sessions, sharing personal experiences to inspire hope and resilience. Assist clients in developing coping strategies and skills for crisis intervention and management. Facilitate access to resources, including mental health counseling, addiction counseling, and social work services. Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to encourage clients in setting and achieving personal goals. Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and progress within EHR systems. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care for clients. Conduct outreach activities to engage individuals who may benefit from peer support services. Qualifications Certification as a Peer Specialist is required. Experience in behavioral health or related fields is preferred, with skills in crisis intervention and management. Strong understanding of mental health counseling practices and addiction counseling principles. Proficiency in mentoring individuals facing similar challenges. Familiarity with EHR systems for documentation purposes is advantageous. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds.
