Job Description

Primary Function Under the direction of the College & Career Readiness Program Director, the Certified Production Technician (CPT) Instructor is responsible for the development, coordination, and delivery of industry-recognized, certificate-based advanced manufacturing training programs. Through a combination of classroom instruction, hands-on technical training, and practical application, the CPT Instructor equips participants with foundational manufacturing knowledge and workforce readiness skills aligned with industry standards and employer expectations. Instructional areas include, but are not limited to, Workplace Safety and OSHA Standards, Six Sigma fundamentals, production workflows, basic machine maintenance and troubleshooting, and environmentally sustainable manufacturing practices. The CPT Instructor is responsible for fostering a safe, engaging, and professional learning environment that emphasizes technical competency, accountability, attention to detail, and career preparedness.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Develop, implement, and continuously enhance curriculum, lesson plans, instructional materials, and training resources to support program objectives and industry standards. 2. Deliver high-quality instruction through in-person classroom training, hands-on demonstrations, and experiential learning opportunities. 3. Coordinate and facilitate practical training activities, including on-site projects, simulations, and community-based learning experiences that reinforce technical skill development. 4. Demonstrate and enforce proper use of tools, equipment, and machinery while maintaining strict adherence to safety protocols and OSHA standards. 5. Evaluate, monitor, and document participant performance through quizzes, assessments, practical evaluations, and ongoing feedback to support student success and skill attainment. 6. Collaborate with the College & Career Readiness Program Director to research, develop, and manage program budgets related to equipment, instructional supplies, materials, and other operational needs associated with advanced manufacturing training. Maintain detailed and accurate materials and purchasing records. 7. Maintain and regularly update inventory records for program tools, equipment, and instructional resources, ensuring accountability and operational readiness. 8. Conduct routine inventory audits and inspections and provide timely reporting of findings, discrepancies, and replacement needs to supervisor. 9. Monitor participant progress and ensure successful completion of required assessments, certifications, and post-training evaluations that support career readiness and sustainable employment opportunities. 10. Provide hands-on technical instruction through demonstrations, laboratory activities, simulations, and guided practice involving manufacturing equipment, tools, and industry processes. 11. Assist the workforce team with direct and indirect advanced manufacturing recruitment of Martin County teens through support of community outreach events, MCSD school visits, other trade specific events, etc. Track inquiries via online portal and spearhead follow-up contact activities with prospective parents or guardians. 12. Performs additional duties as assigned.
PROGRAM SUPERVISION 1.
Provide constant, active supervision continually interacting with all members while providing coaching and mentorship during program training 2. Ensure that the program area is secure and clean. Ensure all instructional equipment is properly functioning. 3. Ensure that program tools, equipment and materials are well maintained and in good condition, providing instructions to members on safe and responsible usage. 4. Serve as a positive role model by exemplifying professionalism, strong work ethic, and respect for others. Mentor both youth members and peers by setting a high standard of conduct. 5. Work closely with volunteers and partners, providing direction and support to ensure that they effectively contribute to program activities and member engagement. 6. Offer guidance and ensure that volunteers have the tools and knowledge they need to succeed.
COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP 1.
Assist College & Career Readiness Program Director with cultivating new relationships and stewarding existing relationships in the building trades and similar communities through established community outreach, partner site visits, club service presentations and other means. 2. Participate in special programs and/or events as needed.
RELATIONSHIPS
Internal:
Works in close partners with College & Career Readiness Program Director and various departments as appropriate.
External:
Maintain contact with external vendors, volunteers, corporate partners, and other groups to achieve goals and objectives.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED 1.
Minimum of 2+ years of experience in manufacturing production, engineering, and/or the skilled trades with a demonstrated ability of leading training programs. 2. Willing to earn valid authorization as an
MSSC CPT
Instructor (required to teach the specific CPT curriculum). 3. High School diploma or GED 4. Strong ability to explain technical concepts to learners aged 16-24 years old. 5. Bilingual preferred. 6. Strong coaching skills and the determination to teach, inspire and lead future trades professionals are essential. 7. Must have solid technology skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office, database applications, Google classroom and drive experience preferred. 8. A strong orientation to safety in the workplace is a must. 9. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, community groups and other related agencies. 10. Must be committed to the Boys & Girls Club mission and values.
