Full-Time / Part-Time / Contract Position Summary Cherry Clinic is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to join our pediatric sedation dentistry and surgical services team. The CRNA will work collaboratively alongside our dental anesthesiologist, dentists, oral healthcare providers, and surgical support staff to provide safe, high-quality anesthesia and sedation care for pediatric dental patients undergoing sedation and surgical procedures. This position plays a critical role in ensuring patient safety, comfort, and clinical excellence throughout the peri-anesthetic process, with a strong emphasis on pediatric care, airway management, emergency preparedness, and family-centered care. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesClinical Anesthesia & Sedation Care Assist in the administration and monitoring of anesthesia and sedation services for pediatric dental procedures in accordance with California regulations and facility protocols. Collaborate with the supervising dental anesthesiologist and surgical team to develop individualized anesthesia care plans. Perform pre-anesthesia patient assessments, including medical history review, medication review, allergies, airway assessment, and ASA classification review. Monitor patients throughout sedation and recovery using appropriate anesthesia monitoring equipment, including: Pulse oximetry ECG/EKG Capnography Blood pressure monitoring Temperature monitoring Assist in airway management and emergency interventions when necessary. Administer and document medications, anesthetic agents, and adjunct therapies as ordered and permitted by law. Evaluate patient readiness for discharge and provide post-anesthesia recovery oversight. Pediatric Patient Care Provide compassionate, developmentally appropriate care to pediatric patients and reassurance to families. Maintain a calm and safe clinical environment during sedation and recovery. Recognize and respond rapidly to pediatric anesthesia or sedation complications. Surgical Team Collaboration Work closely with: Dental anesthesiologists Pediatric dentists Oral healthcare providers Registered nurses Dental assistants Surgical support staff Participate in surgical safety time-outs and emergency response drills. Support efficient patient flow while maintaining the highest safety standards. Documentation & Compliance Accurately complete anesthesia records, sedation documentation, medication logs, and recovery notes.
Maintain compliance with:
California Board regulations OSHA standards HIPAA requirements Infection control standards
ACLS/PALS
protocols Facility sedation policies and procedures Participate in quality assurance and patient safety initiatives. Emergency Preparedness Maintain readiness for pediatric airway emergencies and anesthesia-related complications. Assist with emergency equipment checks and crash cart readiness. Participate in mock emergency drills and continuing education activities. QualificationsRequired Qualifications Current unrestricted California Registered Nurse (RN) license. Current certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). Graduation from an accredited nurse anesthesia educational program. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. Minimum of 1-2 years of anesthesia experience preferred. Experience with pediatric patients strongly preferred. Knowledge of anesthesia monitoring equipment and pediatric airway management.
Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in:
Pediatric dental anesthesia Ambulatory surgery centers Outpatient surgical environments Sedation dentistry Familiarity with California dental sedation regulations. Strong emergency response and critical thinking skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced pediatric surgical setting. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to lift and move equipment as needed. Manual dexterity sufficient to operate anesthesia and monitoring equipment. Ability to respond quickly during emergency situations. Work Environment Pediatric dental surgical environment. Exposure to anesthetic gases, clinical equipment, and healthcare settings. Fast-paced environment requiring strong attention to detail and patient safety.
