Job Description

Responsibilities:
Serve as a counselor in a group or program setting and/or co-leads group counseling sessions. Maintain client caseload (including all case management and utilization review updates) Perform substance abuse assessments and writes assessment summaries Providing assistance in recognizing problems related to substance abuse and in developing alternative behavior Complete client-related documentation (such as progress notes, summaries, monthly reports and other related forms) in a timely matter Require attending mandatory staff meeting, team meeting and supervisions
Requirements:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to the following: Graduation from a four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or a related field or attainment of an Associate of Arts Certificate in a related field plus two years of experience in substance abuse or another human services field. Knowledge of alcohol and drug addiction and the physiological and psychological effect Knowledge of/or ability to learn various substance abuse treatment methods and techniques Knowledge of interviewing techniques Knowledge of/or ability to learn existing referral agencies and community resources Ability to evaluate the severity of a client's substance abuse problem and Recommend appropriate intervention and treatment Maintain records and prepare reports Establish rapport with clients and other concerned persons and to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and community resources Ability to speak and write effectively Requires attainment of an Associate of ARTS (CSAC and ASAM) certification to lead as program counselor in the coordination and implementation of our Intensive Outpatient Substance Services program. Candidate must have experience operating an IOP/PHP Substance program with adults
