The Welding Inspector is responsible for ensuring welding operations comply with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications. This role involves inspecting welds, reviewing procedures, documenting results, and collaborating with welders, engineers, and project teams to maintain quality and safety standards. Roles and Responsibilities Perform visual and dimensional inspection of welds before, during, and after welding Verify compliance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., AWS, ASME, API, ISO) Review and verify Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Qualification Records Identify, document, and report welding defects and non-conformances Ensure corrective actions are implemented and verified Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications Monitor welding processes, materials, and consumables for compliance Prepare inspection reports and maintain accurate quality records Coordinate with welders, supervisors, and engineers to resolve quality issues All other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice Requirements High school diploma or equivalent (technical degree preferred) Minimum 2-3 years of welding inspection experience Active AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification
ASME BPVC
Section IX, Power B31.1 & Process B31.3 Piping Strong knowledge of welding processes (SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, SAW, etc.) Ability to read and interpret welding symbols and technical drawings Proficient in inspection documentation and reporting Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills Successfully pass a skills-based assessment - evaluates your reading, math, inspections & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
Wage:
$28.90 - $43.34 hourly. A starting hourly wage higher than $28.90 is based on a level of experience and education that significantly exceeds the minimum requirements and is commensurate with the compensation scale. Travel is required for training. Training is anticipated to require weekly travel for approximately 3 weeks to one of our facilities in Powder Springs, GA.
