Description
Lana Funkhouser with Robert Half is looking for an experienced Chief Financial Officer to lead the financial strategy and accounting operations for a growing organization. This role is suited for a hands-on finance leader who can translate project and company performance into clear recommendations for executive decision-making. The CFO will guide planning, profitability analysis, and cash management while strengthening financial discipline across the business. This is a great opportunity for a Senior Controller who would like to elevate into a CFO role!
Responsibilities:
- Direct the company's budgeting cycle, financial forecasting activities, and long-range planning efforts to support business goals.
- Evaluate earnings, gross margin, and operating results, then present meaningful insights that help leadership improve performance.
- Oversee project-based accounting activities, including cost tracking, work-in-progress reporting, and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition.
- Review contract and project results to identify trends in backlog, margin movement, and overall financial health.
- Monitor liquidity through detailed cash flow planning and active management of working capital needs.
- Serve as the primary financial contact for lenders and maintain productive partnerships with banking institutions.
- Lead, coach, and develop a small accounting team while fostering accountability and career growth.
- Stay involved in day-to-day accounting matters when needed to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and continuity of operations.
- Support ownership-related financial reporting and help reinforce a culture of employee ownership across the organization.
- Improve financial workflows, internal controls, and supporting systems to increase efficiency and reporting quality.

03590-0013435993 Requirements- 7 to 12 or more years of progressively responsible experience in accounting or finance leadership roles.
- Strong experience with ESOP
- Deep knowledge of job cost accounting, work-in-progress reporting, and percentage-of-completion accounting methods.
- Prior success supervising, mentoring, or developing accounting team members.
- Demonstrated readiness to step into a senior executive finance leadership position.
- Construction industry experience is preferred.
