Philadelphia Campus The Master of Science Program in Mental Health Counseling in the School of Professional and Applied Psychology (SPAP) at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) is seeking applicants for a full-time (12-month) tenure track faculty position who will serve as the chair of the Department of Counseling and director of the MS in Mental Health Counseling program. This position is already funded. This is NOT a remote position. This is an Associate Professor rank.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides year-round (12 months) administration and coordination of the MS in Mental Health Counseling program. Oversees the planning, implementation, supervision and evaluation of the program. Responds to all inquiries regarding the overall counseling education program Engages in recruitment activities for the program. Oversees and coordinates the self-study leading to the attainment of accreditation by CACREP. Develops a system for ongoing evaluation of both teaching and learning including course competency expectations and student learning outcome measures. Supervises faculty in the MS in Mental Health Counseling program. Teaches 5 core courses in the MS in Mental Health Counseling program (receives a 3 course release). Mentors and advises students in scholarly activities. Conducts scholarly activity in areas of specialty. Assures MS program is in full compliance with CACREP standards. Participation in program, departmental, and university service such as, but not limited to, college committees, club sponsorships, advisory committees, student/faculty recruitment and mentoring of new and part-time faculty. Provides input and makes recommendations regarding the development of program budget and expenditures. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Dean.Position Requirements:
Education, Skills and Abilities:
PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision (CES) from a CACREP accredited University Associate Professor OR Assistant Professor with 5+ years of experience within a graduate counselor program. Teaching experience at the graduate level. Pennsylvania LPC or LPC eligible Active in state or national counseling associations (e.g., PCA). Teaches courses in a program that values integrated care/interprofessional education. Has a planned program of scholarly activity. Experience and excellence in teaching and mentoring students being trained in a practitioner-scholar model. Excellent interpersonal, teamwork and collaborative skills - essential. Strong commitment to mentoring students - essential. Specialized expertise in CBT, individual and cultural diversity, interprofessional education/integrated healthcare, and/or rehabilitation counseling. Potential to secure grant funding (preferred). Demonstrated successful teaching and mentoring experience in a counselor education program. Ability to maintain CACREP accreditation standards and pursue alternate teaching modalities (online/hybrid). Experience in clinical supervision of students (preferred). Experience in counseling program evaluation and accreditation. Effective oral and written communication skills. Knowledge about the needs of diverse learners. The ability to establish a program of research in the area of counseling.
