Full-Time Job Summary The Fleming County Chamber of Commerce is seeking an Executive Director to serve as the primary administrator and public-facing representative of the Chamber. This position is responsible for supporting Chamber members, coordinating programs and events, maintaining daily operations, and carrying out the mission, policies, and initiatives established by the Chamber Board of Directors. The ideal candidate will be organized, professional, community-minded, and committed to supporting local businesses and strengthening the Fleming County business community. Key Responsibilities Membership Development and Support The Executive Director will promote and support Chamber membership by recruiting new members, maintaining relationships with existing members, and regularly communicating with businesses to understand their needs. This position will work to develop new and creative ways to engage members and ensure Chamber programs and services provide value. The Executive Director will also provide monthly reports to the Board outlining member contacts, membership updates, current programs, completed projects, and ongoing initiatives. Program and Event Coordination This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing Chamber events and programs that promote local businesses and the community. This includes coordinating networking events, business promotions, member engagement activities, and supporting Chamber-approved events hosted by local businesses. Administrative Management The Executive Director will maintain regular Chamber office hours as approved by the Board and ensure consistent availability for members and the public. Duties include maintaining Chamber records, membership lists, official documents, website updates, newsletters, social media updates, and other communications. This position may also supervise and coordinate the work of administrative support staff. Financial Management and Reporting The Executive Director will help maintain accurate and transparent financial records for Chamber revenues and expenses. This includes timely submission of financial records to the Chamber's CPA, proper documentation of income sources such as memberships, sponsorships, events, and public contributions, and following all Board policies regarding the use of Chamber funds. Communication and Community Representation The Executive Director will serve as a primary point of contact for Chamber members, businesses, community partners, government partners, and the public. This position may represent the Chamber at approved community meetings, events, and business functions. Board Support The Executive Director will assist the Board of Directors with meeting agendas, supporting materials, operational updates, and implementation of Board-approved policies, programs, and decisions. Expectations Chamber staff are expected to maintain professional and respectful communication with Board members, Chamber members, businesses, government partners, and the public. Staff time and Chamber resources must be focused on activities that directly support the Fleming County Chamber of Commerce, its members, programs, and initiatives. Work performed for organizations or activities outside the chamber must not interfere with Chamber responsibilities and shall not be funded by Chamber resources or public contributions.Qualifications Ideal candidates should have:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills Experience working with businesses, nonprofits, community organizations, or public-facing roles Strong organizational and time-management skills Ability to plan and coordinate events and programs Basic financial recordkeeping and reporting skills Experience with social media, newsletters, websites, and member communications Ability to work independently while following Board-approved direction Professional, respectful, and community-focused attitude Familiarity with Fleming County and the local business community preferred Compensation Pay will be based on experience and qualifications. Performance Review The Executive Director's performance will be evaluated periodically by the Chamber Board of Directors, including review of assigned duties, Chamber operations, member engagement, reporting, and overall performance.
