Role:
The CHAP Itinerant - All Levels position is designed to provide specialized support and consultation services across multiple locations within the United States, ensuring that individuals receive high-quality care and assistance tailored to their unique needs. This role involves traveling to various sites to assess, plan, and implement care strategies that align with organizational standards and client goals. The incumbent will collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams, families, and community resources to promote optimal outcomes and enhance the quality of life for those served. A key outcome of this role is to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements while fostering continuous improvement in service delivery. Ultimately, the CHAP Itinerant professional acts as a vital link between clients and care providers, ensuring seamless coordination and effective communication across all levels of service. Position Summary The Itinerant Community Health Aide/Practitioner (CHA/P) provides temporary health aide coverage to village clinics within the Bristol Bay region. This role delivers primary healthcare services within the scope of training and supports progressive advancement through the Alaska Community Health Aide Program (CHAP), with the goal of achieving Community Health Practitioner (CHP) certification. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent, TABE score at 6th-grade level (math and reading) Basic computer skills Alaska resident (Bristol Bay region preferred) Ability to travel and stay in villages for extended assignments BLS and ETT (required within 90 days of hire if not current) Ability to meet physical demands of CHAP training Training & Certification Must progress through CHAP Sessions
III-IV CHA III
certification required (or obtained) for itinerant duties Advancement to
CHA IV/CHP
expected Maintain required EMS and medical continuing education Key Responsibilities Provide preventive, acute, chronic, and emergency care per training level Deliver 24-hour emergency coverage once certified (as assigned) Assess patients using CHAM guidelines and document all encounters in EHR Coordinate emergency transports and referrals Conduct clinics, follow-ups, and community health education Maintain clinic operations, records, inventory, and compliance Travel to assigned villages (typically Monday-Friday) Mentor junior health aides as needed Why BBAHC Serve rural Alaska communities Structured career pathway to CHP certification Travel-based schedule with time at home between assignments Strong clinical and training support Reports to: CHAP Manager
