We are seeking an organized and dedicated Chaplain to lead our religious services and education programs. In this role, you will provide religious services to youth within our facility, creating a supportive environment that fosters personal growth and complements their overall treatment goals. Beyond direct youth engagement, you will serve as a vital bridge to the community - training and coordinating faith-based volunteers and organizations to support our youth during their stay and as they prepare for reentry.Core Responsibilities:
Religious Leadership and Youth Programs Plan and implement worship services and religious educational programs Conduct worship services, sacramental observations and religious educational programs; plan and organize sermons and religious programs Plan and implement a religious educational program that is designed to complement the overall treatment program and goals of the facility Conduct orientation for new youth and complete religious assessments in order to determine areas of spiritual needs; educate youth regarding mentoring resources Community Engagement and Volunteer Coordination Coordinate with community, faith-based organizations, and/or individuals from the community interested in connecting with youth; screen, process, and train community and faith-based volunteers using standardized DYS volunteer training Identify community contacts and coordinate reentry team presentations and/or training within the community; follow-up with community contacts and answer questions and/or concerns regarding the needs of community organizations Assist with volunteer coordination duties; schedule and monitor volunteer led programming; assist in escorting volunteers to and from program sites. All new candidates hired to the Department of Youth Services must complete a paid, mandatory 6 weeks of training. Week 1 is held at the facility, weeks 2 through 4 are held at DYS Training Academy in Orient, Ohio, Monday through Thursday, 7:00 am - 5:00 pm. (travel, lodging, and meals are provided). Weeks 5 - 6 are on the job training held at the facility. DYS is a "qualifying employer" for purposes of the federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness [PSLF] program.
