View More Jobs Chemistry Laboratory Supervisor Lowell, AR, United States Job Description Supervises the day-to-day delivery of high-quality testing services. Monitors the daily productivity and quality of work, allocates resources as required and troubleshoot/escalate problems as necessary. Schedules, assigns, reviews and coordinates workflow to assure proper utilization and training of lab staff, ensuring all work is in accordance with regulatory and organizational policy, accreditation/compliance requirements. Provides input into the annual budgetary goals, capital expenditure budget for lab equipment and tactical plans for assigned lab team. Contributes to preparing instructions for test methods, procedures, quality control and maintenance procedures. Examines test samples, test performance and provides input regarding issues and/or problems with test/data sheets. Operates machines and lab equipment, may perform routine maintenance of designated test equipment and laboratory area. Integrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job. Under supervision, manages the performance of direct reports by defining accountabilities, establishing performance objectives, providing feedback and guidance, assist in hiring and ensuring that all policies are understood and adhered to. Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices. Other duties as directed. Responsibilities Oversee execution of chemical and analytical test methods, ensuring adherence to approved procedures, test standards, and quality requirements Review test samples, raw data, calculations, and data sheets for accuracy, completeness, and technical validity prior to reporting or release. Support development, revision, and implementation of chemistry SOPs, work instructions, test methods, and quality control procedures. Ensure laboratory equipment and analytical instrumentation are qualified, maintained, and operating within defined performance parameters; perform or oversee routine maintenance and troubleshooting. Monitor quality control results, identify out‑of‑trend or nonconforming data, and lead technical investigations and corrective actions as needed. Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, accreditation, and internal quality system requirements related to chemistry testing, data integrity, and documentation. Provide technical guidance and training to chemists and laboratory technicians on methods, instrumentation, safety practices, and data documentation expectations. Support method transfers, validation activities, and onboarding of new tests or technologies in coordination with cross‑functional teams. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance analytical quality, laboratory efficiency, and consistency of chemistry testing processes. #LI-BW1 #LI-Onsite Qualifications Bachelor's degree in chemistry or a related scientific field (e.g., chemical engineering, environmental science, materials science) required. Demonstrated technical knowledge in chemistry laboratory operations, test methods, and analytical workflows. Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated proficiency in English; able to clearly and credibly communicate within area of technical expertise. Proven ability to communicate technical information effectively to non‑technical audiences, including customers, cross‑functional partners, and trainees. Demonstrated ability to coach, train, and develop laboratory staff, including creation and delivery of training materials using multiple methods (e.g., group instruction, one‑on‑one coaching, digital or video‑based content). Ability to analyze laboratory data, quality metrics, and performance trends and draw accurate, actionable conclusions to support continuous improvement. Strong customer focus with the ability to support internal and external customer needs while maintaining quality, safety, and regulatory requirements. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across laboratory teams, quality, safety, and operational stakeholders. Solid understanding of how changes to regulatory, customer, or internal requirements impact chemistry test methods, with the ability to assess and communicate those impacts clearly.
