The Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation is a Tribal health care organization, serving nearly 30,000 people living across rural, southwest Alaska in villages with populations from about 10 to more than 1,000. Bethel, the regional hub and location of the only hospital in the region, has a population of nearly 7,000. The Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta is home to thousands of lakes and two primary rivers—the Kuskokwim and Yukon. Position Summary:
The President & CEO acts as the top strategic leader of the corporation, accountable to the Board of Directors for overall organizational performance, financial viability, and quality and safety of care. Sets the strategic vision, oversees operations across all divisions, ensures regulatory compliance, and fosters partnerships with stakeholders.
Position Qualifications:
Minimum Education/Experience:
Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant field with at least ten (10) years experience as a senior leader at a medium-to-large integrated healthcare organization or BS/BA with fifteen (15) years of such experience. A demonstrated record of successful operations at a medium-to-large integrated healthcare organization is required.
Preferred Experience:
Cross-cultural, rural experience. Knowledge of Alaska Native culture. Ties to the region. American Indian and Alaska Native preference shall be applied as required by
PL 93-638.
Experience operating a regional tribal health organization with at least 500 employees and an annual budget over $100,000,000.00.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Visioning & Growth:
Defining long-term goals, identifying opportunities for growth, and navigating developments in healthcare.
Financial Stewardship:
Monitoring fiscal health, including budgeting, revenue growth, and cost control.
Operational Leadership:
Directing clinical and administrative operations to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.
Board and Stakeholder Relations:
Acting as the primary liaison between the organization and the Board, while managing relationships with staff, partners, governmental entities, Tribes, and the community.
Compliance & Quality:
Ensuring compliance with all applicable healthcare laws and regulations and promoting high standards of quality and safety.
Relationship Building:
Building strong relationships with customers and partners through active listening and sharing information; building trust through authentic interactions, including traveling to and connecting with stakeholders in the region.
Builder of Organizational Culture:
Ensuring the right values and focus to drive high quality healthcare delivery.
Key Qualifications:
Experience:
Extensive experience in executive-level management within the tribal healthcare industry.
Skills:
Exceptional leadership, communication, strategic planning, and financial acumen.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Build and develop a high performance leadership team
