About Mercy Flights Mercy Flights is a nonprofit mobile healthcare organization founded in 1949 and headquartered in Medford, Oregon. As the first civil air ambulance service in the nation, we provide vital air and ground medical transport and community-focused healthcare services throughout Southern Oregon and Northern California. Guided by our mission to save and enhance lives and our core values of Community, Compassion, Teamwork, Excellence, and Service, Mercy Flights delivers integrated emergency and non-emergency care that improves health outcomes and strengthens community resilience. Position Overview Mercy Flights is seeking a strategic and mission-driven Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join its executive leadership team. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the CFO provides strategic financial leadership and oversees all fiscal operations of the organization. This includes financial planning and analysis, accounting, revenue cycle management, capital planning, debt management, compliance oversight, and board-level financial reporting. The CFO serves as a key business partner to the CEO and Board of Directors, supporting long-range strategic planning, financial sustainability, and operational growth. The role also serves as Mercy Flights' designated Privacy Officer, leading the organization's HIPAA privacy compliance program. This is a highly visible executive position requiring strong nonprofit financial leadership experience, executive presence, and the ability to guide complex financial and operational initiatives within a mission-driven organization.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
10+ years of progressive finance experience 5+ years in a CFO or equivalent senior financial leadership role Experience within an organization with an annual operating budget of at least $20 million Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
Preferred:
Experience in a healthcare or nonprofit environment Master's degree (MBA, MAcc, MS Finance) CPA or CMA certification Experience in prehospital medical transportation environments For full responsibilities, qualifications, and physical requirements, please refer to the attached detailed Job Description. Compensation & Executive Benefits Mercy Flights offers a competitive executive compensation package, including: Posted salary range: $177,400 - $243,925 depending on experience.
