Job Description

Position Title:
Chief Trail Manager Job Overview Plans, organizes and supervises the day-to-day operations of assigned trail systems, trailhead facilities, vehicle, and equipment maintenance. Responsibilities and Duties Supervises part-time, seasonal staff Plans and schedules trail maintenance on a day to day, project by project, and month to month basis for assigned trail system. Responsible for the development and management of maintenance schedules for the sightlines, brushing heights, water control devices, signs, gates, barriers. Practices safety on the job. Ensures all equipment is in good working order, well maintained, and maintenance logs are up to date. Responsible for monitoring and reporting trail surface issue to supervisor Makes recommendations to the Field Operations Manager for the purchase of parts, tools, and supplies necessary for the job. Provides advice when problems arise and investigates work-related problems such as excessive cost or low productivity and determines causes. Implements corrective actions within Authority to resolve work problems. Other duties as assigned. Required Experience/Qualifications. Experience in related field of work Specific Skills. Operate off-highway vehicles, mowers, chainsaws, gas powered trimmers, hand tools, and other power tools for trail construction and maintenance. Personal Characteristics. Takes responsibility and is a self-starter, motivated to keep trails in good shape at all times, communication skills, both oral and written, and ability to plan and organize. Licenses. Valid Driver's License Education Level. Minimum of High School diploma or equivalent (GED). Physical Demands and Time Requirements Most of the work is carried out in rough terrain and in difficult climatic conditions. The individual may come in contact with poisonous plants, insects, and animals. Fieldwork requires physical strength, coordination, and endurance. The individual will be expected to operate off-highway-vehicles, mowers, chainsaws, gas powered trimmers, hand tools, and other power tools as necessary to complete all trail construction and trail maintenance work. They must also be able to work for extended periods of time often involving cross-country walking, heavy lifting, and intense manual labor. The individual may work overtime, including approved weekends and holidays. The individual will be required to complete the Department of Forestry chain saw safety class within 6 months of their hire date. Full time with benefits, salary is set annually by the Board of Directors.
NOTE:
New hires have a 90-day probationary period. Continuation of employment is dependent upon a positive performance reviews during the probationary period.
