Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Child Care Director and in the accordance with the association and policies of the Northern Lights YMCA, the childcare assistant teacher will be responsible for the health, welfare and happiness of children in his/her care.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Create a positive environment conducive to children. Interact with children, act as a role model. Maintain all YMCA standards and rules. Be aware of all safety hazards. Implement first aid, CPR or AED training if necessary. Be sure to record all injuries. Be aware of the location of children at all times. Encourage positive learning and enthusiastically facilitate activities Ensure safety and cleanliness of program area and equipment. Attend staff meetings and trainings as required. Provide excellent service to children and parents. Perform other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
1. Must be at least 16 years old. 2. Experience in babysitting and/or child care is preferred. 3. Willing to obtain certification in CPR, First Aid, and AED. 4. Must be a mature individual with the ability to operate independently. 5. Must have excellent human relation skills and ability to maintain positive communication with program participants, volunteers and staff. 6. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must have ability to perceive audio & visual alerts for emergency purposes. Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time. Must be able to access all areas of building or off-site locations including pool areas, closets, stairwells, locker rooms, wellness center, etc

$14.85 - $16.00 per hour
