•We are looking for Child Development Specialists who can serve children who reside in Duplin County. Please only apply if you are able to provide services during daytime hours and early evening hours as needed. About the Role The Child Development Specialist works with preschool-age children who may be experiencing developmental delays. Specialists provide services in the child's natural environment, using play-based activities and skill-building strategies to help each child reach individualized developmental goals. Through their knowledge of child development, our Specialists support children in building the skills needed to grow and progress toward important developmental milestones. We are seeking a dependable, organized, and compassionate team player with a go-getter attitude and a passion for helping children with special needs. Strong communication skills, independence, and the ability to build positive relationships with children and families are essential. This is a 1099 contracted position with flexible hours ranging from 10-40 hours per week, depending on the Specialist's desired caseload and available referrals within the agency. Since each child receives services based on their individual needs, schedules may vary. Specialists create and manage their own schedules but are expected to maintain consistency from week to week. Availability during daytime hours is required. However, early evening hours may be required as needed to accommodate families. Key Responsibilities Child Development Specialists will primarily focus on: Assisting children in accomplishing developmental goals that may address language delays, fine and gross motor delays, social-emotional challenges, behavioral concerns, and other developmental needs Developing creative, play-based activities that support the goals outlined in each child's individualized plan Working closely with parents and guardians to provide techniques, guidance, and support that encourage continued progress outside of sessions Providing services in the child's natural environment, which may include the home, daycare center, parks, community outings, and other familiar settings Building positive, engaging relationships with children and families through consistent encouragement and support Maintaining a lively, energetic, and playful approach to keep children engaged and motivated throughout each session Successful Specialists are patient, creative, adaptable, and passionate about helping children learn and grow through meaningful everyday interactions. Qualifications Bachelors Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Education, Psychology, Social Work, Special Education, Child Development, Family Studies or related field (preferred) Experience working with preschool-aged children (preferred) Experience working with children with special needs, developmental delays, autism disorder, or behavioral challenges (preferred) Previous experience working with children in Early Intervention, childcare, education, therapy services, or related fields (preferred) •Applicants must be able to serve children who reside in Duplin County.
